Concurrent Engineering

Time is almost never a luxury when building Formula One race cars. Realizing this, Team Sauber implemented a concurrent engineering model to speed design and build its high-performance Red Bull-Sauber-Ford C15 in record time. Using a concurrent engineering process means designing all elements of the car simultaneously so that at any given time these elements can be put into a master model assembly to show how the cars systems will fit together. Simultaneous system design for the Red Bull-Sauber-Ford C15 included the body, suspension, gearbox, seating, braking, fuel, and steering systems.
